Buying from us

Three ways federal and university labs typically engage us.

Simplified acquisition

Most confocal service agreements fall under the simplified acquisition threshold. Send the model and configuration and we return a quote with a fixed annual price for a contract, or a per-visit estimate for a repair.

Notices of intent and brand name or equal

When an agency posts a notice of intent to award confocal service to the manufacturer, interested small businesses may respond with a capability statement before the deadline. We service Zeiss LSM systems the OEM no longer supports and can respond with the specific model, serial and scope in your notice.

Sources sought and RFQs

We respond to sources sought notices and RFQs for confocal PM, repair and relocation. Response times and lead times are stated in the quote, and a COI is provided with the award.

Why an independent provider for a federal confocal

Agencies pay OEM prices for systems the OEM is winding down. An independent with parts and reference systems is the alternative.

  • All-inclusive Zeiss LSM contracts, labor, travel and parts, one to three year terms at a fixed annual price
  • Service for Zeiss LSM 310 through 800, including models Zeiss no longer supports, with access to spare parts and working reference systems
  • Leica, Olympus FluoView and Nikon confocals and spinning disk systems evaluated and quoted per system
  • Remote diagnostics before travel, written service reports with measurements, 30-day warranty on parts and labor
  • Relocation and reinstall when a core facility moves, with performance checks at the new site
  • Trade-in and refurbished confocal options when a repair is no longer the best use of the budget

How a service call runs

The same four steps whether it is a down laser or an annual PM.

  1. Tell us the symptom

An engineer, not a call center, reviews your request and asks the few questions that narrow it down.

  2. Get an estimate

You get an advance estimate, refined with scope, parts and lead time once the system is evaluated. You approve before work starts.

  3. We do the work

On site in your lab, or crated and repaired on our bench. Lasers measured, optics cleaned, scan path aligned.

  4. Report and warranty

A written service report with the measurements taken, plus 30 days of coverage on parts and labor.

Questions labs ask us

Is Coastal Microscopes registered in SAM.gov?

Yes. UEI TWB1LDQL6SS7, CAGE 10ZU5, registered as a small business. Our NAICS for this work is 811210 and the PSC is J066.

Can you respond to a notice of intent to sole-source confocal service to the manufacturer?

Yes. When the notice covers a Zeiss LSM system, we can submit a capability statement for the specific model and scope before the response deadline. Other brands are evaluated per system, and we will tell you plainly whether we can meet the requirement.

Do you hold a GSA schedule?

No. We quote directly on institutional purchase orders and respond to RFQs and sources sought notices.

Do you provide a certificate of insurance and W-9?

Yes, both on request, along with references from university and institutional labs.

Can you service a confocal on a federal campus with access requirements?

Yes. Tell us the site requirements when you request the quote and we will plan the visit around them.
